By default, credit card payments and some additional methods of payment are captured automatically, but if it suits your business better, then you can change your store setting to capture payments manually. It's one of most recommended method to review your fraud orders and prevent the additional transaction fee.
When manual payment capture setting is activated, customers that pay for orders in your online store with credit cards and some additional payment methods are not automatically charged at the time of sale. To get paid, you need to capture payment manually (in your Shopify Admin's Order section) within the authorization period.
Here's how to set up manual payment capture on your Shopify store:
Step 1: Accessing the Payment Settings
From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Payments.
Step 2: Manage Payment Capture
Once you are in the Payment Settings section, click on Manage in the Payment Capture section.
Step 3: Select Manual Payment Capture
Select the option to manually capture payment for orders.
Step 4: Optional: Send a Warning Email
If you use Shopify Payments and want to receive emails before the authorization period for each order ends, then check the option to send a warning email when authorizations are close to expiring. This will give you a heads up to ensure that you capture payment before the authorization period ends.
